• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 tsp ground ginger
• 1 tsp ground cinnamon
• 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
• 1/4 tsp ground cloves
• 1/4 tsp salt
• 1/2 cup finely chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Dough
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Mix in the vanilla extract.
4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture.
5. Stir in the chopped nuts, if using.
Step 2: Shape the Cookies
1. Scoop about 1 tablespoon of dough and roll it into a ball.
2. Place the dough balls onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
Step 3: Bake
1. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the bottoms are lightly golden.
2. Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool slightly on the baking sheet.
Step 4: Coat in Powdered Sugar
1. While the cookies are still warm, roll them in powdered sugar to coat.
2. Allow the cookies to cool completely, then roll them in powdered sugar again for a snowy finish.
Tips for Success
• For a stronger gingerbread flavor, add a touch of molasses to the dough.
• Store the cookies in an airtight container for up to a week.
